Test on your device

Run your app on real Apple hardware from Superapp Web or Mac.

The simulator is excellent for fast interface work, but a real device reveals the details that matter before release: touch behavior, permissions, camera access, notifications, performance, signing, and Sign in with Apple.

Choose the right testing path

Connect your device

Fast iteration

Use the QR flow on Superapp Web or a USB cable on Superapp for Mac while you are actively building.

Use TestFlight

Release confidence

Install an Apple-hosted beta to test distribution, production signing, purchases, and the experience your testers will receive.

Superapp Web: connect with a QR code

1. Open the device connection flow

Open your project’s preview controls and choose Connect your device. Superapp displays a QR code for the current project.

2. Scan the code on your device

Unlock your iPhone or iPad, open the Camera app, and scan the QR code. Open the link that appears and follow the connection steps shown on the device.

3. Approve the connection

Keep the browser project open while the device connects. Approve any trust, install, or permission prompts required by the guided flow.

4. Run a focused test

Start with one complete journey. After a new build is ready, reconnect or refresh the device preview when Superapp asks you to do so.

Superapp Web: test through TestFlight

Choose TestFlight when you need a signed beta that installs like a distributed app. Open the project’s publishing flow, connect the correct Apple Developer team, and submit a beta build. Apple processes the build before it becomes available in TestFlight.

  1. Install Apple’s TestFlight app on the test device.
  2. Accept the tester invitation with the Apple Account that received it.
  3. Install the latest available build and confirm its version before testing.
  4. Send the build number and a short test focus to every tester.

For team and external distribution details, continue to Test with TestFlight.

Superapp for Mac: run through USB

1. Connect a data-capable cable

Connect the iPhone or iPad to your Mac, unlock it, and accept Trust This Computer if prompted. Some USB cables provide power but cannot transfer data.

2. Allow development on the device

Enable Developer Mode if iOS requests it, then restart and confirm the device prompts. Keep the device unlocked during the first connection.

3. Choose the physical device

In Superapp for Mac, open the run-destination dropdown that currently shows the Mac or a simulator. Select your connected iPhone or iPad instead.

4. Build and run

Start the app from Superapp. The first device build may take longer while Apple tooling prepares the device and resolves signing. Keep the cable connected until installation finishes.

Superapp for Mac: use TestFlight

Mac projects can also create TestFlight builds. Use the same path when you want to test the signed distribution build, work without a cable, or invite other people. Direct USB testing and TestFlight complement each other; one does not replace the other.

What to test on hardware

  • First launch, relaunch, backgrounding, and interrupted tasks.
  • Sign in with Apple, sign-out, and session restoration.
  • Camera, photos, location, microphone, notifications, and denied permissions.
  • Keyboard behavior, rotation, Dynamic Type, dark mode, and one-handed reach.
  • Slow connections, offline recovery, battery use, and device temperature.

If the device does not appear

The iPhone or iPad is missing from the Mac dropdown

Unlock the device, reconnect it, accept the trust prompt, and try a verified data cable or another USB port. Confirm that Developer Mode is enabled when required.

The QR connection does not complete

Keep the project page open, generate a fresh QR code, and scan it again. Check that both devices have a stable network connection and that the phone opens the complete connection link.

The TestFlight build is not visible

Confirm that Apple has finished processing the build, the tester has access to that version, and TestFlight is signed in with the invited Apple Account.

The device build reports a signing problem

Verify the selected Apple Developer team, bundle identifier, device registration, and required capabilities. Then rebuild with the device unlocked and connected.
